The Winter Hours

(Mary Oliver’s words are in Times, my thoughts are in italics)

“How shall there be redemption and resurrection unless there has been great sorrow? And isn’t struggle and rising the real work of our lives?” - Mary Oliver -

We are messy creatures. It is our nature to make a mess of things—but a mess is a million times better than nothing—to be bruised but to have done something is to be beautiful—to allow Him to make something of us is so much better than to be “clean” and stagnant.
This is just one quote from Mary Oliver’s “The Winter Hours,” which is absolutely lovely—full of wisdom and beauty. The whole book is quotable, but my favorite section was the last, “Winter Hours.”
